A relatively remote destination, Katherine is a town nestled on the banks of the Katherine River, a mere 30 minutes from the world renowned Katherine Gorge in the renamed Nitmiluk National Park. Directly in the path of the Sturt Highway that connects the North to the South, it has a pioneering history dating back to the 1800’s.
